Wednesday February 17th, 2010 - Trinidad Carnival (excerpt
from Trinidad Guardian)
THOUGH the results are yet to be released, it is safe to say
Jason
’JW’ Williams and Ancil ’Blaze’ Isaac Jr’s ’Palance’ has
undoubtedly run away with the Road March 2010 title.
It was not as easy to decipher which songs would take second
and third places in the race at the Queen’s Park Savannah and
Downtown Port of Spain yesterday, though, as almost every band
opted to play the track, which also copped its singers the Soca
Monarch 2010 title.
At the Queen’s Park Savannah judging point, tracks like
Shal
Marshall’s ’Police’,
Fay-ann Lyons’s ’True Lies’ and
Blaxx’s ’Huntin’ were also played, but with significantly
less frequency than ’Palance.’
Several of soca star
Machel Montano’s hits, both old and new, were also chosen by
some bands taking to the downtown streets on the final day of
the two-day street parade. |
